 Our Process

  • Speech-Language Consultation

Initial speech-language consultations are a complimentary service.

Consultations are used to help you determine if speech-language services will help your child.

A consultation can include a parent-phone interview. Some families may request to skip this step in the process and immediately begin with a speech-language evaluation, specifically if their child already has a diagnosis or currently receives speech-language services (e.g., in a school setting). Consultations are conducted via phone call.

  • Speech-Language Evaluation

Comprehensive speech-language evaluations are essential when developing a plan that is best for your child. The evaluation process begins with parent/caregiver completing an intake form that will be reviewed by the Speech-Language Pathologist prior to the evaluation.

On the day of the evaluation, formal assessments and informal observations will be utilized, in addition to the clinical judgment of the Speech-Language Pathologist, in order to provide a thorough evaluation of your child’s speech-language skills. Upon completion, the Speech-Language Pathologist will write a detailed report and provide a recommended treatment plan that will be given to the family. Your child’s initial evaluation is also a chance for us to collaboratively develop a treatment plan and goals.

  • Speech-Language Therapy

After a speech-language evaluation has been completed, speech-language therapy sessions can begin and will follow the recommended treatment plan. The recommended length of a therapy session is based on each child’s individual needs. Therapy sessions typically range between 30 to 60 minutes each and may be recommended from one to as many as three days per week.

At the end of each session, the Speech-Language Pathologist will review the session with the child’s parent or caregiver and discuss home practice activities that should be targeted at home until the next therapy session. Consistent data will be taken after each session to measure progress and ensure we are achieving your child's goals.

* Services rendered by Step by Step Pediatric Therapy LLC may be considered Out of Network. This means we may NOT bill insurance companies for services. This does not mean that you cannot be reimbursed from your insurance company for some/all services. This will depend on your specific policy coverage. You will be responsible for payment at the time of service. Then, if you’d like to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for the speech therapy session, we can provide you with a Superbill upon your request. A Superbill includes important client and provider information as well as details of therapy session rendered. You can independently submit each Superbill to your insurance company to seek reimbursement for the Out of Network service. Not all insurance carriers will reimburse you for Out of Network services. Therefore, it is important to discuss this option with your insurance provider prior to beginning services.
